Baltimore Environmental Climate Justice Power Hour and River Reimagining Workshop

May 4 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm EDT

Free

You’re invited to join a Baltimore environmental climate justice power hour in collaboration with the Baltimore Just Transition Network! We will hold space for everyone to share introductions and updates, debrief the Maryland legislative session, and do collective visioning for healthier, more accessible waterways in our city (a River Reimagining Workshop). We’ll also enjoy dinner from Land of Kush, a local black-owned vegan restaurant!

The event will include the last of our series of River Reimagining Workshops (Workshop #6).

Ready to dream?
River Reimagining Workshop:
Imagining alternative futures for the Jones Falls River

The Jones Falls River has been partially hidden below I-83 for over 50 years, overlooked and mistreated. How might we radically reimagine our river as the center of a reconnected and ecologically vibrant Baltimore?

Jones Falls 2076 is a speculative design project to envision aspirational and quixotic futures for the river in 2076, half a century from now. This series of River Reimagining workshops, art exhibitions, discussions, and publications will encourage radical dreaming and summon collective action on the future of the Jones Falls.

Join one of our six River Reimagining Workshops to think beyond the status quo and share your creative, dream-like, radical, unexpected visions for the future of the Jones Falls.

Each workshop is limited to 25–30 participants to engender creativity, participation, and collaboration among a specific stakeholder group, including: river and watershed advocates, designers and planners, environmental and community activists, students and educators, civic representatives and policymakers, and scientists.

The ideas generated in the River Reimagining Workshops will be featured in Confluence: Reimagining Baltimore’s Waterways, a forthcoming exhibition at AREA 405 opening on May 8, 2026.
The Reimagining River Workshops are free, but registration is required as space is limited.
