Outside-Inside-Out, an Ecosomatics workshop with Michele Minnick
Through Metta Integrative Wellness Cooperative
In this workshop, we go outside also to turn inwards, and discover the parts of ourselves that awaken in green spaces, when we listen to water, when we move like clouds. And then, hopefully, we will bring what we find with us back out into our everyday life. We will explore our connection to the natural world, and ourselves as nature in relation to local urban green spaces, parks, and waterways. Plants, water, earth, sky, all invite us to slow down, and to unwind on a cellular level. We will work with breath, movement and sound to contact ourselves, each other, and the persistent wildness that surrounds us in our city’s streets. We will be invited to shift our perspective as we witness the growth, change, and life happening in these spaces. We will invite the nature within us to awaken in gentle ways, providing us with a greater sense of vitality as it unfurls. We will allow ourselves to be held by the Earth, and in turn, we will embrace whatever life we encounter. We will, if only temporarily, loosen the ties of social norms, constraints, and stresses, so that we might experience ourselves as human beings, and being as a continual process of transformation. Drawing, writing, and moving will serve as ways to integrate and give concrete expression to our experience.
